Missions Moment: Helping Ukrainian Refugees in Cochrane

Sep. 28, 2022 at 12:02 p.m. MDT

Pastor Mike introduces Fleeha Ahmad from Rocky View Immigrant Services and Chantal Barber with Family and Community Support Services Cochrane (FCSS). Fleeha shares a bit about the growing number of Ukrainian refugees relocating to the Cochrane area.

Here are a number of ways you can help these displaced families:

For more information on any of the following, please contact Chantal Barber at FCSS: chantal.barber@cochrane.ca or 403-851-2266.

1. Host Homes - temporary 1 month stays or 3+ month stays. Host homes would be responsible for safe accommodations including utilities and food. Optional assistance would be transportation and clothing. There are many resources in place to help. FCSS is working closely with St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Orthodox Sobor church in Calgary to place refugees in homes. Click here to apply to be a host home.

2. Physical Donations of goods like beds and dressers are wonderful. We are also looking for running vehicles for people to either purchase or borrow. Chantal will connect you with the physical donation volunteer team.

3. Rental Properties - Working families are looking for rentals and are prepared to pay market prices; however, they do not have cosigner and rental history. If you or someone you know has property to RENT to a family, this would be the absolute best contribution.

4. Financial Donations made to Cochrane Alliance Church will be directed to FCSS Cochrane for Ukrainian Refugees in Cochrane. Please designate "UKRAINE" with your donation.
